Dr. Shivani Chopra founded the Premier Mind Institute, an integrative mental health center specializing in child, adolescent, adult and forensic psychiatry and individual, couples, and family psychotherapy in Newport Beach, CA.
In this setting, Dr. Chopra, who formerly served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Medical Director for the Adolescent Partial Hospitalization program at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), uses evidence-based treatments to address a variety of complex mental health issues in children, adolescents, and young adults. Some of these include, but are not limited to: depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, OCD, trauma, women’s mental health issues around transitions in life (pregnancy, infertility, menopause, etc), school issues, relationship issues, bullying, and parenting concerns.
Dr. Chopra’s approach to mental health care is a holistic, integrative, and humanistic one. She strongly believes that there is no one modality that can fix everything. She uses medications (when necessary); psychotherapy as a means to understand behavior patterns, navigate life transitions, gain effective coping skills, work through interpersonal conflicts, and process identity shifts; diet; exercise; and alternative modalities of treatment when helping her patients attain the quality of life for which they strive.
